According to AS, FIFA is increasingly inclined to host the 2030 World Cup final in Madrid.

Here is the translation of the AS report:

From the Africa Cup of Nations final in Rabat to the Copa del Rey final in Seville, just three months have highlighted the gap in event organization between the two main hosts of the 2030 World Cup.

These two major finals, held three months apart, offer a direct comparison of the operational capabilities of Spain and Morocco, who are both competing to host the ultimate final of the 2030 World Cup.

The Africa Cup of Nations final between Morocco and Senegal in January was marked by chaos and global embarrassment, with related disputes still being handled at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

In contrast, the Copa del Rey final in Seville between Atlético Madrid and Real Sociedad was a complete success: 72,000 fans attended, supporters of both teams were seated in segregated sections with zero clashes, and the atmosphere was vibrant, harmonious, and entirely free of controversy.

Spain’s mature event management systems and extensive hosting experience have led FIFA to prioritize Madrid over Casablanca as a more suitable venue for the 2030 World Cup final.

Two days before the Copa del Rey final, Seville also hosted a UEFA Europa League match between Real Betis and Braga. Around 3,000 Portuguese fans spread across the city, yet everything remained safe and orderly.

Previously, the Copa Libertadores final between Boca Juniors and River Plate had to be urgently moved from Buenos Aires to Madrid due to unrest. The match was then conducted smoothly without incident. The Royal Spanish Football Federation and UEFA have even proposed hosting a transcontinental Super Cup at the Bernabéu, with no safety concerns anticipated.

Recently, a newly built luxury stadium in Casablanca is set to be unveiled, with Morocco heavily promoting it in an attempt to rival Spain’s hosting capabilities—but the challenge remains significant.

Spain has already secured the hosting rights for next year’s Champions League final at the Metropolitano Stadium, while Camp Nou and San Mamés Stadium are bidding for future Champions League and women’s tournaments in 2029.

Spain is also capable of hosting the European Championship, FIFA youth tournaments, and various UEFA and FIFA congresses.

Spain has effectively become what Morocco aspires to be: a global hub for hosting top-tier international football events.
