Arsenal win the Premier League title again after 22 years!
00
Yesterday, Arsenal secured a 1-0 home victory over Burnley in an earlier match. As long as Manchester City failed to beat AFC Bournemouth today, the Gunners would clinch the league title with one round to spare. In the end, Manchester City were held to a draw away from home, allowing Arsenal to realise their dream of winning the title.
The last time Arsenal won the Premier League was back in the 2003/04 season. That year, they recorded 26 wins and 12 draws, becoming the only team in Premier League history to win the title unbeaten.
However, Arsenal failed to lift the Premier League trophy again in the years that followed, and legendary manager Arsène Wenger eventually left the club in the summer of 2018. That same summer, Unai Emery took charge of Arsenal, but he was dismissed in November 2019 after a disappointing spell.
Shortly afterwards, former Arsenal captain Mikel Arteta resigned from his role as Manchester City assistant coach and returned to take over his former club. At the time, Arsenal were going through a turbulent period, but under Arteta’s leadership they gradually recovered and rejoined the title race. Starting from the 2022/23 season, Arteta guided Arsenal to three consecutive Premier League runner-up finishes.
At long last, Arsenal’s wait for another Premier League title has come to an end today. After 22 years, they have finally returned to the summit of English football once again!
