Conte and Napoli Set for Peaceful Split as Sarri Emerges as Leading Replacement

According to *La Gazzetta dello Sport*, Antonio Conte and Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis have reached an amicable agreement to part ways, with no obstacles or tensions involved. Conte will make his final appearance as Napoli head coach this Sunday at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, where he will officially bid farewell to the club.

The report states that when the two sides first signed their agreement, they had already agreed that if either party decided to end the partnership early, the other would not stand in the way. Conte himself confirmed that his cycle at Napoli would come to an end one year earlier than planned, and the club fully respected his decision.

During his two seasons in charge, Conte guided Napoli to the Serie A title and the Italian Super Cup, while also securing back-to-back UEFA Champions League qualifications. Italian media described the separation as a respectful farewell after a successful mission, with no conflict or breakdown in relations.

After leaving Napoli, Conte is expected to take a short break. However, he remains the leading candidate to become the next head coach of the Italian national team.

Meanwhile, Napoli have already identified current Lazio manager Maurizio Sarri as Conte’s replacement. Napoli have offered Sarri a 2+1 contract worth around €3.5 million per year plus bonuses.

Sarri previously spent three seasons in charge of Napoli and once led the club to a remarkable 91-point Serie A campaign that narrowly missed out on the title. He is said to be very eager to return to his former club. At this stage, only the termination of his contract with Lazio is needed for the move to be completed.

It is understood that Atalanta are also interested in Sarri, but Napoli currently hold a clear advantage in the race. If Sarri ultimately fails to join, Massimiliano Allegri will become De Laurentiis’ backup option. Allegri was already close to joining Napoli last summer, while his future at AC Milan remains uncertain.
