Following Germany's elimination to Paraguay in the FIFA World Cup Round of 32 after a penalty shootout, Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann spoke to the media.

Here is what he said:
"This is one of the most painful nights of my coaching career. I cannot truly put into words the disappointment and heartbreak that everyone is feeling in the dressing room right now. We came here with the dream of bringing the World Cup trophy back to Germany, but instead we are going home with broken hearts.
First of all, I want to sincerely apologise to every German fan who believed in us and supported us throughout this journey. They deserved to be celebrating tonight, not shedding tears. We have let an entire nation down. As head coach, I take full responsibility for this defeat.
The players gave everything they had, but football can be unbelievably cruel. One penalty, one save, even a single moment can determine your destiny. That is the brutal reality of the World Cup, and tonight fortune was not on our side. This pain will stay with us for a very, very long time.
I also want to congratulate Paraguay. From the opening whistle to the final penalty, they showed tremendous courage, outstanding discipline and unwavering belief. They deserved this victory, and they deserve to continue their journey in this World Cup.
This defeat will leave scars, but it must also become a lesson that helps us grow. German football has always found a way to rise again after setbacks through resilience, hard work and unity. Tonight we leave the World Cup with broken hearts, but our responsibility is to come back stronger in the future.
I will continue to honour my contract. If the German Football Association wants me to remain in charge until 2028, I will stay. If they believe I am no longer the right person for the job, then I will leave."
