Al-Ahli have officially appointed Marino Pusic as their new head coach following the departure of Matthias Jaissle to Newcastle United. The Saudi club acted immediately after confirming that Jaissle's release clause had been activated, ensuring a smooth managerial transition ahead of the new campaign. Pusic has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until 2028.

The club selected the 54-year-old coach because his attacking philosophy, high-intensity approach, and tactical flexibility align with Al-Ahli's long-term vision. Pusic arrives with a strong coaching résumé, having won league and cup titles in both the Netherlands and Ukraine before his most recent spell with Al Jazira in the United Arab Emirates.

There will be little time for the new manager to settle into his role, as the Saudi Pro League season is set to begin within days. Al-Ahli also face a demanding schedule that includes defending their AFC Champions League Elite crown and competing in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, making a fast adaptation essential.

The club has also undergone significant changes in the transfer market ahead of the new season. Experienced players such as Riyad Mahrez and Franck Kessie have departed, while Portuguese attacking midfielder Francisco Trincão has emerged as the standout addition. With a refreshed squad and a new coach at the helm, Al-Ahli are aiming to remain among the leading contenders in domestic and international competitions.
