Manchester City Turns to Manu Koné as Potential Rodri Replacement

    0 0

Manchester City are reportedly turning their attention to AS Roma midfielder Manu Koné as they look to strengthen their midfield following major changes to the squad. The France international has emerged as one of the club’s serious targets, with City looking for a player capable of helping fill the void left by Rodri and Tijjani Reijnders.

Koné, 25, had previously been associated with Manchester United during the current summer transfer window, but a move failed to materialize and he remains with Roma. That situation could now create an opportunity for Manchester City, who are assessing the midfielder as a potential addition to their options in the center of the pitch.

City’s interest comes after Rodri completed a move to Barcelona, while Reijnders joined Saudi Arabian side Al-Qadsiah. The departures generated around €137.5 million including performance-related bonuses, leaving Manchester City with both significant funds and a clear need to reinforce their midfield ahead of the new campaign.

Koné remains under contract with Roma until June 2029, giving the Serie A club a strong negotiating position. However, Roma are reportedly willing to consider his departure for a suitable offer, with his valuation believed to be between €50 million and €60 million. For City, that figure could be manageable after their recent player sales, and a successful deal would provide another strong option in midfield.
