Juventus are exploring the possibility of bringing in Marseille defender Emerson Palmieri as they look to strengthen their options at wing-back. The 32-year-old Italy international has emerged as a potential target after initial discussions between Juventus and Marseille, with his experience viewed as a valuable asset for the squad.
Palmieri could offer Juventus greater depth on the left, where Andrea Cambiaso and Zeki Celik are currently available. Despite having options in the position, the club’s coaching staff are still looking for another versatile player who can provide additional competition and cover throughout a demanding season.
After spending more than €100 million during the summer transfer window, Juventus are now looking for more economical additions to their squad. Palmieri could fit that strategy because of his experience at the highest level, including his role in Italy’s Euro 2020 triumph in 2021, while his age could make a deal financially more manageable.
Juventus have reportedly made initial with Marseille, although discussions remain at an early stage and no agreement has been reached. Marseille are understood to be open to moving Palmieri as they look to reduce their wage commitments, potentially creating an opportunity for Juventus. The two clubs have also discussed goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio, who could consider a move to Marseille after the arrival of Guglielmo Vicario from Tottenham left his playing opportunities uncertain.
