Harry Kane has been named Germany’s Player of the Year for 2026 after producing a remarkable campaign with Bayern Munich. The England striker scored 61 goals across all competitions, playing a key role in Bayern’s successful season as they retained the Bundesliga title and lifted the German Cup. His outstanding form also included a hat-trick in the German Cup final.
Kane continued his impressive run into the new season by helping Bayern Munich claim another German Supercup title. Bayern defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-1 on Saturday, although Kane did not get on the scoresheet. His overall contribution and consistency throughout the previous campaign made him the standout choice among Germany’s football journalists.
The award was decided through a poll involving 659 members of the Association of German Sports Journalists, organized by Kicker magazine. Kane collected 272 votes, finishing ahead of Bayern teammate Michael Olise, who received 203. Deniz Undav came third with 61 votes, followed by Joshua Kimmich with 21 and Hoffenheim goalkeeper Oliver Baumann with 14.
Bayern coach Vincent Kompany also received major recognition by being named Germany’s Coach of the Year. He secured nearly half of the votes, finishing ahead of Freiburg manager Julian Schuster, who won the award last year. Kane’s victory adds another major individual honor to an already exceptional Bayern campaign, while Kompany’s recognition highlights the club’s continued dominance domestically.
