Aston Villa have officially completed the signing of Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea during the 2026 summer transfer window, bringing the Senegal international to Villa Park in a deal that could eventually be worth £65 million. Villa will initially pay £47.5 million for the 25-year-old forward, with a further £17.5 million available through performance-related bonuses. The transfer represents a major investment as Unai Emery looks to strengthen his attacking options ahead of another demanding Premier League campaign.

Jackson’s arrival comes as Aston Villa prepare to lose Ollie Watkins, who is set to leave the club for Al-Hilal. With Watkins having played an important role in Villa’s attack, Emery moved quickly to secure a replacement capable of offering a different threat in the final third. The deal also sets a new club transfer record, surpassing the £59.5 million package previously agreed for Johan Maznambi earlier in the summer.

Jackson leaves Chelsea after three seasons with the London club, having scored 30 goals in 81 appearances across all competitions. He initially joined Chelsea from Villarreal in 2023 and became an important attacking option, although his time at Stamford Bridge was followed by a temporary move to Bayern Munich last season. Operating mainly as a backup to Harry Kane, Jackson still managed to score 11 goals and gained valuable experience at one of Europe’s biggest clubs.

The move to Aston Villa also reunites Jackson with Emery, who previously worked with the striker during his time at Villarreal. That existing relationship could help the forward settle quickly into Villa’s system and understand the manager’s expectations. Jackson could have little time to adapt, with his debut potentially coming against Arsenal on Monday. His pace, movement and ability to contribute goals could make him an important part of Villa’s attack as the club begins a new chapter following Watkins’ departure.
