Juventus have identified Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pape Matar Sarr as a potential solution to their need for greater strength and depth in midfield. The Turin club recently saw their efforts to reach an agreement for Franck Kessie stall, prompting them to explore alternative options. Sarr has emerged as a leading target, with Juventus reportedly approaching Tottenham about a possible loan move for the Senegal international.

Sarr is currently outside Roberto De Zerbi’s plans at Tottenham and has yet to make an appearance for the club this season. His situation has also been complicated by a hamstring injury suffered after the World Cup with Senegal. Despite his limited involvement, Tottenham are understood to prefer a permanent sale rather than another temporary arrangement, creating an obstacle for Juventus, whose financial approach is based on securing the midfielder initially on loan.

Tottenham signed Sarr from FC Metz for around €17 million in 2021, but the midfielder has not developed into an undisputed regular in north London. His current valuation is reportedly around €30 million, with Aston Villa and Besiktas among the other clubs showing interest. Juventus are unwilling to meet that figure immediately and would instead prefer a loan deal containing an option to purchase at the end of the season, potentially giving them time to assess his performances before committing to a significant investment.

A move to Turin would also create another recent connection between Juventus and Tottenham, following the Italian club’s acquisition of goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario on loan. Sarr, who is approaching his 24th birthday, already has 42 senior international appearances for Senegal and remains under contract with Tottenham until June 2030. His experience at both club and international level could make him an attractive addition for Juventus, but the final outcome will depend largely on whether Spurs are willing to compromise on their preference for a permanent transfer.
