Indonesia U-20 have finalized a 23-player squad for the 2027 AFC U-20 Asian Cup qualifiers, with head coach Nova Arianto preparing his team for a challenging Group H campaign in Laos. The Garuda Muda will face hosts Laos, Australia and Malaysia during the tournament, which is scheduled to take place from August 31 to September 6, 2026. The squad combines several familiar names from Indonesia’s youth setup with a number of promising players based overseas, reflecting the coaching staff’s efforts to build a competitive team capable of challenging strong regional opponents.

Among the most notable selections is Welber Jardim, the Sao Paulo FC midfielder who has once again been included in Nova Arianto’s plans. His experience playing in Brazil is expected to add quality and composure to Indonesia’s midfield, while Amar Brkic and Eizar Jacob provide further international exposure. Brkic currently plays for Sportverein Darmstadt 1898 in Germany, while Jacob is part of Sydney FC in Australia. The inclusion of three diaspora players gives Indonesia additional options and strengthens the squad ahead of a qualification campaign that will demand consistency against teams with different playing styles.

Several players who have previously represented Indonesia U-20 have also retained their places. Arkhan Kaka remains one of the most recognizable names in the squad and is expected to provide an attacking threat, while Nazriel Alvaro, Reno Salampessy and Zahaby Gholy are also included among the younger players trusted by Nova. Their familiarity with the national youth system should help provide continuity within the team, while the combination of returning players and overseas-based talent gives Indonesia a balanced squad heading into the tournament.

The final squad was formed after Indonesia completed a training camp in Thailand throughout August as part of their preparations for the qualifiers. During the camp, the team recorded a 3-2 victory over Kasem Bundit University FC, drew 0-0 with United Arab Emirates U-20 and suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat against Iraq U-20. Those matches provided valuable preparation against different opponents and allowed Nova to assess his players before selecting the final group. With Welber Jardim, Arkhan Kaka and other established youth internationals among the 23 players, Indonesia U-20 will now turn their attention to Laos and the demanding battle for progression from Group H.
