The Sun reports that in the Rooneys’ new TV series, Wayne Rooney has admitted that he would be “dead” without his wife, Coleen.

Coleen was filmed reprimanding the former England and Manchester United striker while the family were on holiday, after he stayed out late with his friends. In the trailer for *The Real Rooneys*, Coleen tells her husband: “This was supposed to be a family holiday. You can’t keep doing this.”

The scene then cuts to Rooney looking sheepish back at home. Smiling, he jokes: “The trouble-making handbook... I’m already on the third edition.”

The couple, who met as children in Croxteth, Liverpool, have seen their relationship tested over the years by Rooney’s off-field behaviour, including an incident in 2021 when he spent the night drinking in a hotel room with three women.

Rooney has since said that without his wife’s support, he would have been “dead by now.”

Now both 40, the couple have allowed cameras into their Cheshire mansion, which they share with their four sons.

Coleen has gone from being a full-time mother to a high-profile celebrity following her appearance on *I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!* and her widely publicised legal battle with Rebekah Vardy, the wife of former England striker Jamie Vardy.

In the trailer for the Disney+ series, Coleen says: “Since the court case and the jungle, a lot of doors have opened. So I’m going back to work, and Wayne is helping with the school runs.”

At one point, their son Kit is asked: “Who is more famous, Mum or Dad?”

He replies: “My dad. My mum is only famous because of my dad.”

Rooney also jokes about their chaotic family life, saying: “Why did I have kids?”

When asked whether they are planning to have any more children, he laughs and says: “I’ve had a vasectomy.”

*The Real Rooneys* will premiere on September 24.
