Vasco da Gama have revealed the reason Richarlison’s proposed move from Tottenham Hotspur fell through on the final day of the Brazilian transfer window. Sporting director Admar Lopes explained that the club had reached an agreement with Spurs over a permanent deal but could not convince the Brazilian striker to accept the proposed terms.

Vasco reportedly submitted a formal bid and made every possible effort to persuade Richarlison to return to his homeland. Despite the club’s determination to complete the deal before the deadline, the forward ultimately decided that the timing was not right for him to make a permanent return to Brazil.

The failed move added another chapter to a complicated transfer saga surrounding Richarlison, who had been looking for a way out of Tottenham. The 29-year-old had also been liked with a return to Everton, while a potential switch to Turkish side Trabzonspor failed to materialize, leaving Vasco as another opportunity that ultimately came to nothing.

As a result, Richarlison remained in North London after the transfer window closed, although his situation at Tottenham remains difficult. His failed departure has left him facing an uncertain future, with the striker reportedly frozen out of the first-team plans under manager Roberto De Zerbi and unable to secure the move he had been seeking.
