Gerry Cardinale and RedBird Capital Partners are reportedly leading a consortium seeking to acquire a stake in Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr. The reported initiative would represent a new investment in football for the AC Milan owner, with discussions reportedly involving Ibrahim Al-Muhaidib, SMC Media and several Saudi investors.
According to reports from Al Riyadh cited by MilanNews, the proposal is not aimed at taking full control of Al-Nassr. Instead, the consortium is understood to be pursuing an agreement with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), with the objective of completing the investment before the end of the current season.
The potential deal could also involve Cristiano Ronaldo, who reportedly has a 5% stake in Al-Nassr after investing around €92 million in the club. Sources associated with PIF have reportedly confirmed that negotiations are taking place, although no final agreement has been reached and the exact structure of any potential transaction remains undecided.
For Cardinale, the reported Al-Nassr move would fit into a broader strategy of building a multi-club football network. RedBird already controls AC Milan and Toulouse while holding an investment in Liverpool, making any potential involvement with Al-Nassr another step in expanding its presence across the global football industry.
