Indonesia dropped one place in the latest provisional FIFA ranking after being held to a 0-0 draw by Malaysia in their second Group A match of the 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup. The game at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta on Monday night ended without a goal, giving both teams a point. While the result kept Indonesia in a strong position in the group, it had a negative impact on their FIFA ranking points.

The Garuda lost 0.68 points following the draw, leaving them with 1,160.49 points and placing them 119th in the world in the provisional standings. Indonesia had previously climbed to 118th after defeating Singapore, but results involving other nations also contributed to changes in the ranking before the Malaysia match. Togo are now above Indonesia with 1,163.48 points, while Gambia occupy 117th place with 1,165.29 points.

Indonesia also need to keep an eye on Namibia, who are sitting immediately behind them in 120th place with 1,160.31 points. The gap between the two teams is only 0.18 points, meaning further changes could occur before the official FIFA ranking update. Malaysia, meanwhile, gained 0.68 points from the draw and now have 1,091.02 points. The current positions remain provisional because other matches taking place during the same international period could still affect the final order.

Despite the ranking setback, Indonesia remain in a strong position in Group A with four points from two matches. They currently sit second behind Malaysia, who also have four points but lead the group on goal difference. John Herdman's side will have one more opportunity to strengthen their position when they face Bangladesh at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on Thursday, October 1, at 7:30pm WIB. A positive result in that match could prove important for Indonesia's hopes of progressing while also giving them another chance to improve their FIFA ranking points.
